TechRxiv

The explosion of subject specific pre-print servers has brought a new option for researchers working in the subjects of electrical engineering, computer science and similar technologies. TechRxiv (pronounced  tech archive) is an open access, moderated pre-print server for unpublished research. Pre-prints already exist for various subject disciplines including biology, physics and chemistry.

Pre-print archives allow for researchers to easily share their research to a global audience and receive feedback on a draft. Articles should fall into one of the following categories:

  • Aerospace
  • Bioengineering
  • Communication, Networking and Broadcast Technologies
  • Components, Circuits, Devices and Systems
  • Computing and Processing
  • Engineered Materials, Dielectrics and Plasmas
  • Engineering Profession
  • Fields, Waves and Electromagnetics
  • General Topics for Engineers
  • Geoscience
  • Nuclear Engineering
  • Photonics and Electro-optics
  • Power, Energy and Industry Applications
  • Robotics and Control Systems
  • Signal Processing and Analysis
  • Transportation

The TechRxiv advisory board is composed of eight experts who come from academia and industry.

The growth of pre-prints as a means to find current research is evident with impressive statistics. In a week in December 2020 the numbers are impressive.

Details of pre-prints include how often they have been viewed and downloaded in addition to altmetrics.

In addition, all pre-prints are assigned a digital object identifier (DOI) and are citable, which means they are also indexed by Google Scholar. Moreover, authors can select a Creative Commons license for their pre-print, which means that authors retain their copyright.

TechRxiv also offers robust exporting options to all bilbiographic managers.

With publishers exploring pre-prints as a possible option for transforming publishing academic research, TechRxiv is a welcome addition to the fields of electrical engineering, computer science and related subject disciplines.
